Camp Grow Memory Verse Challenge

Dear Child of the living God,

Since I was in college and had just begun to walk with the Lord I have found great joy in taking time to memorize Scripture. It has allowed me to meditate on the Word throughout the day and God has used this to bring verses to mind as appropriate for the situation that I am in (or my friends or my sons, etc.) are in.

I have taken time this month to choose some verses that I’d like to memorize and I have made them into pocket-sized cards. I am writing to challenge you to join me in a Scripture memory adventure  in 2010. I’ve attached the verse memory cards for you to look over as you consider joining me.

Granted, this may seem like a daunting task. But I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how God writes His Word on our hearts as we meditate on it. Some of the things that have helped me to memorize Scripture are copying the verse down once or twice every morning while saying it aloud, and also carrying it in my pocket to glance at throughout the day.

If you have never done something like this before, I know it can seem overwhelming. Please consider taking on this challenge and be sure to be gracious with yourself. There may be some weeks when you aren’t able to completely memorize the verse(s). And that’s OK. God the Spirit will use whatever effort you give to further conform you to the image of God the Son.
